When Do I License My Pet?
The City of Minneapolis offers three types of licenses:
- One-Year pet licenses expire one year from the date of purchase.
- Three-Year pet licenses expire three years from the date of purchase.
- Lifetime Licenses do not expire. They are in effect for the life of the pet.
Pet owners who provide an email address will receive an electronic reminder four to five weeks prior to the license tag’s expiration date. We will also send pet owners a reminder letter the month that the pet’s license tag expires.
All pets over four months of age need to be licensed. Residents can license in a variety of different ways (Licensing My Pet)
