Ways to Help the Animals

Minneapolis Animal Care & Control works with residents to create safe and healthy communities for people and animals.  We know that our work is significantly positively impacted by caring and passionate people who want to lend a hand to animals in need.

Donation of the Week

Cat Carriers

MACC is in need of cat carriers! We use these to pick up and transport cats/kittens and other small critters in the field as well as in the shelter. We used to have an abundance but over time some have broken and others were loaned out never to be seen again. Now as we approach our busy season we are very low and in dire need to replenish our supply! Plastic carriers with top-loading option preferred (see picture below) but we will take whatever we can get! Used carriers will be accepted as long as they are in good repair and clean.

Financial Donations

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) considers gifts to a local government entity to be tax deductible if they are used solely for public purposes. All donations to the Animal Shelter must be used in one of two ways -- for Animal Care (dog biscuits, cat treats or toys, etc.) or Responsible Pet Ownership (dog bite prevention education for children, etc.). Therefore, donations to Minneapolis Animal Care & Control may be tax deductible on your federal income taxes. Please ask your tax attorney or financial advisor for further clarification.

Volunteer Your Time

We encourage you to find ways to help the animals that meet your interests, time commitment, and ability. While some folks are able to donate financially, others can give their time by volunteering.
