Are you a reliable, self-motivated individual who loves animals? Do you have extra time you would like to regularly spend helping homeless pets? Then volunteering at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control may be a great fit for you!
MACC utilizes volunteers to help walk our dogs, cuddle our cats, photograph animals, be Adoption Counselors, as well as foster animals. We ask individuals to commit to volunteer four (4) hours per month for a minimum of six (6) months. Individuals 16 years of age or older are allowed to volunteer with the signed authorization of a parent/guardian.
Volunteers are able to serve at the shelter Monday through Friday 8am to 6:30pm and Saturday/Sunday 8am to 4pm. Most shifts are 1.5-2 hours long.
A $20 application fee will be collected at the time of a Volunteer Orientation Session to cover the entire cost associated with the background screening.
We have sent invites to our fall orientation and look forward to on-boarding our next group of new volunteers! The next orientation date is TBD, but likely in the New Year.
For additional information about volunteering please email Danielle Joerger, Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected]. You can also submit an online application (below) and you will be contacted when the next orientation is scheduled if your availability and position interests align with current program needs. Thank You!
The volunteer screening process includes the following:
1. Submit an application ($20 application fee will be due at time of orientation)
2. Attend a Volunteer Orientation Session (approx. 2 hours)
3. Attend class(es) specific to volunteer position (approx. 1.5-2 hours each)
4. Hands-on training with a current volunteer (1-4 hours)
5. Obtain a volunteer ID badge
