When to use

An Article (by Tag or Select) content type should be used when you want to display a grouping of articles. There are two ways to use this content type.

Article by Tag

You may choose to automatically show the latest articles from a department (or departments). These will update over time as new articles are tagged with that department name.

Article by Select

Alternatively, you can manually select up to 3 articles to show. These articles will not change unless you update them. You might use this if you would like to collect articles on a specific topic. For example, if you have a collection of articles about organics recycling (under Public Works), you'd want to select those 3 articles manually, rather than pulling in all articles by Public Works.

When to consider something else

If you want to promote one article, use a Promotion instead.

When you are linking to any page that isn't an article, consider something like a button, a List of Links in Tiles, or text links in your paragraph.

Best practices

Do

  • Either choose tags or select articles manually, not both.

Don't

  • Don't select the "Get Departments from Article (Hidden)" checkbox.
