On Monday night at 11:14 pm, Minneapolis Police were notified that an adult male had been brought into North Memorial Medical Center by a private transport.
Two minutes later, at 11:16 pm, Minneapolis Police were notified that a pre-teen female child was brought into Hennepin Healthcare, also by private transport.
Officers responded to both hospitals and obtained information. It appears that the two victims were injured in the same incident. Preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 11:00 pm on Monday evening, shots were being fired in the area of the 3500 block of Penn Avenue North. The adult male was struck by gunfire and was transported to North Memorial in Critical condition. The vehicle that the pre-teen victim was riding in was struck by gunfire from this incident. The pre-teen victim was riding in this vehicle and was struck by a bullet. The driver then went directly to Hennepin Healthcare to hospital for medical treatment of the child.
Both individuals remain in critical condition at each hospital.
The Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Lab conducted follow up investigations and have worked through the night on this incident. No arrests have been made.
