Today, the Minneapolis City Council approved the appointment of Rebecca Malmquist as the new city assessor. Malmquist is now the first female to head the Minneapolis Assessor’s Office.
Malmquist, who became interim city assessor Jan. 5, has served as director of assessments since 2014. Prior to her work at the City, Malmquist served at the City of Minnetonka as an appraiser (1998-2009) and the city assessor (2009-2014).
A graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Malmquist is a licensed Senior Accredited Minnesota Assessor and has earned the Certified Assessment Evaluator designation. She is an active member of both the Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers and the International Association of Assessing Officers.
“It is an honor to serve Minneapolis property owners and taxpayers,” Malmquist said. “I will lead the assessor’s office team living my personal values of doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason in alignment with the enterprise values including equity, excellence, stewardship and transparency.”
