Phillipe Cunningham (pronounced fil-LEAP) represents Ward 4 in North Minneapolis. He is a forward-thinking policy wonk and a fierce community advocate who dearly loves his Northside community.
Elected in 2017, CM Cunningham became the first person of color to represent Ward 4 and the first out trans man of color to be elected in the world. Prior to serving on the City Council, he:
- Served former Mayor Betsy Hodges as her Senior Policy Aide for education, racial equity and LGBTQ+ rights
- Worked as a special education teacher and youth worker for more than 10 years
Council Member Cunningham primary goal is to build intergenerational peace and prosperity in the community.
