Police Conduct Oversight Commission Subcommittees

The PCOC has two subcommittees that help the commission organize its work.

About subcommittees

Subcommittees do not have decision-making powers. They make recommendations to the commission. Subcommittees may not take actions without approval of the commission.

PCOC Audit Subcommittee

The Audit Subcommittee recommends audits and studies of any matters within the scope of the Police Conduct Oversight Ordinance.

It is empowered to:

  • Develop and present an annual audit plan
  • Develop and present audit and research projects
  • Monitor ongoing audits of the MPD
  • Present results of audits to the PCOC

Meeting details

The subcommittee meets at least four times a year. Meetings are held in public in accordance with the Minnesota Open Meeting Law.

PCOC Policy and Procedure Subcommittee

The Policy and Procedure Subcommittee:

  • Considers Police Department's policies and procedures identified by the PCOC, including monthly case summaries
  • Liaisons with Civil Rights Department staff to identify any department resources available to assist in the subcommittee's work
  • Supplements, but does not replace, the general authority of the PCOC
  • Facilitates research to aid the PCOC
  • Recommends ad hoc work groups for research as needed

Meeting details

The Policy and Procedure Subcommittee typically meets the last Tuesday of the month at 7:15 PM.
