Trees Lost and Planted

Target

Plant at least 6,000 trees on public land annually by 2015.

Trend Analysis

In 2012, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board planted over 5,500 trees. Since 2006, the MPRB has planted an average of 4,500 trees per year for a total of more than 31,000 trees along streets and in parks. There has still been a net loss of almost 1,500 public trees in the city over the past seven years. In response, almost 9,000 trees have been planted on private land since 2006 through the City Trees program.
