Fast Food Containers | Bag and place inside the garbage cart. We do not accept fast food containers in the recycling program. Used in fast food take-out packaging among other things. It is easy to identify, but very costly to recycle as the nearest recycling plant is now in New Jersey. This is why there are no longer any drop-offs for polystyrene in the Twin Cities. | | |

Fiberglass Insulation | Small amounts of fiberglass can be bagged and placed inside the garbage cart. Dry and clean insulation removed during re-modeling can be reused. Fluorescent Lamps: Non-incandescent | Do NOT place in the garbage cart. This item NOT collected by Solid Waste & Recycling or accepted at the South Transfer Station. Disposal with garbage is prohibited. Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) can now be recycled at Menards or Home Depot. Only CFL are accepted. It is illegal to throw CFLs in the garbage due to the presence of a small amount of mercury. For more information on your recycling options, visit www.minnesota.earth911.org or www.pca.state.mn.us . Recycling: Call a nearby retailer or hardware store to see if they accept fluorescent lamps for recycling. Check Xcel Energy's program for participating retailers. |
