Egg Cartons

Bag and place inside the garbage cart.

We do not accept egg cartons in the recycling program as they are made from recycled paper. Recycled paper fibers are short and are not very useful for making new products.

Electronics

This item collected on recycling week only. Limit of two (2) large items per recycling week. Place next to the garbage cart on the recycling day. Please post a sign or write on the item "For Solid Waste". Item will be picked up on next business day after recycling day.

Engines

ONLY household type motors such as dryer, lawn mower, snow blower, washing machine or weed trimmer. This item collected on recycling week only.

Limit of two (2) large items per recycling week. Place next to the garbage cart on the recycling day. Please post a sign or write on the item "For Solid Waste". Item will be picked up on next business day after recycling day.

NOT collected by Solid Waste & Recycling. Disposal with garbage prohibited. Engines from automobile, moped, motorcycle, truck, snowmobiles, etc… Check the Yellow Pages under "scrap metals", "auto wreckers" or "used parts".

Envelopes: with or without windows

Office Paper and Mail: Office paper, mail, envelops, manila folders, notebook paper, Post-It Notes®. Place in recycling cart.

Explosives

Do NOT place in the garbage cart. Not collected or accepted by Solid Waste & Recycling or with a voucher at the South Transfer Station. Disposal with garbage is prohibited. Call your local police precinct or 911 for proper disposal. If you find an item that may be an explosive, do not move it--call 911.

Items marked Caution, Caustic, Corrosive, Danger, Flammable, Poison, Volatile, or Warning should be considered a hazardous waste product and proper disposal is required. Do NOT place in garbage. Go to Hennepin County A-Z Guide for additional information.
