Neighborhood CleanSweep

You and your neighbors can work together to make your surroundings neat and clean with the Neighborhood CleanSweep program. Organize a group and identify the specific needs in your area, then tailor your cleanup effort to meet those needs.

By participating in a CleanSweep event, you agree to:

  • Pay the overtime charge for City staff and equipment. The Saturday overtime rate for a CleanSweep is $96.00 per hour for one truck and driver. The Division of Solid Waste and Recycling will absorb the cost of disposing the materials.
  • Gather volunteers from your neighborhood to walk through the area and load accepted items on to the City truck.

You and your neighbors may also choose to sweep sidewalks, rake alleys, pull weeds, pick up litter, remove graffiti, and perform other tasks to tidy up your neighborhood.

Contact your neighborhood organization or block club leader to find out if you already have a CleanSweep planned this year. If not, talk to your neighbors and contact the Clean City Coordinator at (612) 673-2789 to make arrangements.

For questions, contact the Solid Waste and Recycling Division’s Clean City Coordinator at (612) 673-2789.
