Work, Eat, and Play Smoke Free in Minneapolis!New: “Six-month revenue comparisons before and after Indoor Smoking Ordinance” (March 2006) Since March 31, 2005 when the City’s smoking ban went into effect, Minneapolis bars and restaurants are smoke free. In July 2004 the Minneapolis City Council passed an amendment to the City’s indoor smoking ordinance, which requires that all food establishments, liquor establishments, bowling alleys, pool and billiard halls and private clubs be smoke free. Other local governments, including the city of Bloomington and Hennepin and Ramsey Counties, have also passed smoking bans.
