About Regulatory Services

The Regulatory Services Department is charged with the responsibility of protecting the health, safety and welfare of Minneapolis residents through a program of regulation, inspection, and enforcement of laws and ordinances. Our divisions include Animal Care & Control, Fire Inspections Services, Housing Inspections Services, and Traffic Control.

Livability - We believe that livability issues affect quality of life in Minneapolis and work to quickly address and resolve them.

Accountability - All staff are accountable to systems, policies, people, performance measures, and the public interest. As staff, we are responsible for our work performance, actions, and interactions with regard to our customers, city, department and one another.

Customer Service - We prioritize customer service in our interactions with the public. We anticipate needs, respond quickly, and deliver customer-focused solutions. The goal of all staff is to make sure that customers are well-served.
