Project Description

The CDBG-R funding will assist in the completion of the Van White Memorial Bridge and Roadway project supporting the CDBG performance measures of providing a suitable living environment and expansion of economic opportunities. This project is an integral element of the $225 million Heritage Park redevelopment project. The boulevard's construction is the most significant strategy at ending the isolation and economic hardship experienced by Minneapolis’ Near Northside residents. The boulevard will be a catalyst in preserving construction jobs, removing stigmatization to Near Northside development, cleaning up century-old pollution contamination, attracting businesses, and enhancing green space opportunities. Its development will spur private investment and allow easy access to jobs, schools, and cultural activities throughout the City.
