Stormwater Ordinance and Utility Update Project

The City of Minneapolis is currently in the process of finalizing its Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP). The four Water Management Organizations (WMOs) that are affected in Minneapolis have requested that the City update official controls as a condition of approval. Specifically, these controls are addressed in City Code Chapter 54 Stormwater Management.

As part of this process, the City will research and summarize regulatory approaches and lessons learned about stormwater management ordinances and utility credit programs across comparable cities in the United States. 

Combining the review of the Stormwater Management Ordinance and the Stormwater Utility Credit program is important in order to maintain coordinated and work with the desired effects. The credit program will help motivate stormwater and land-use management changes that the stormwater ordinance will ensure that engineering, financial, political, and other constraints are up to current standards.
