TO PROTECT WITH COURAGE

TO SERVE WITH COMPASSION

Officer Bonnie Edwards

I am a 22 year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department. I have chosen a career path that keeps me close to my favorite aspect of police work, street patrol. During my career, I have worked as a Field Training Officer, a PR-24 Instructor, and a Range Instructor. For 9 years, I served in our SWAT Unit and was one of the first female snipers in the nation. My current assignment is with our K9 unit. Being a K9 handler is the most rewarding and challenging job I have had.

That’s what I love about being a police officer; because it challenges you physically, mentally and emotionally. Not many people feel like they make a difference. Here you can. I can honestly say that I look forward to going to work every shift.
