Fingerprinting of the public is performed by the Minneapolis Police Department Crime Lab when a fingerprint card is required for background checks, identification or hiring purposes.

The hours for public fingerprinting are:
8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.,
Monday through Friday (closed on all major holidays)
The cost for public fingerprinting will be $20.00 per fingerprint card. The Crime Lab will be able to accept cash or checks/money orders made out to the "City of Minneapolis". If you are paying with cash the Crime Lab requires exact change. We cannot accept debit or credit cards.
You must present a valid driver's license, state issued ID card or passport. The Crime Lab uses FBI Fingerprint card FB-258 for public fingerprinting.
Under Minnesota Government Data Practices Statutes, Section 13.87, fingerprints are considered private data. Fingerprint cards can only be given to the subject of the fingerprints or to a governmental entity.
