MAFIN

MAFIN (Midwest Automated Fingerprint Identification Network) is a computerized tri-state (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota) fingerprint card network used by examiners for the purpose of searching finger/palm prints and latent prints against a group of known cards; the purpose being to possibly identify an individual and aid in ongoing investigations.  The MAFIN Section also has the ability to search the FBI fingerprint database (IAFIS) which is a national database that is available to other law enforcement agencies upon request.
