Minneapolis elections will use e-poll books
Nov. 6, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) When Minneapolis voters head to the polls tomorrow, they’ll experience something new: e-poll books. Hennepin County has provided City elections officials with a secure e-poll book system to check-in voters. This helps streamline the voter verification process, reducing lines and wait time.
Until now, election judges used printed roster books containing lists of eligible voters in their precincts. That data is now loaded onto e-poll book tablets at all 132 Minneapolis polling places so election judges won’t need to spend time thumbing through roster book pages. Also, e-poll books can be used at the same time by multiple election judges.
Other benefits to e-poll books:
- They make it possible to redirect voters who have come to the wrong polling place.
- They speed up the same-day voter registration process.
- They notify election judges if a voter already voted absentee.
Video of e-poll books is available for the media to download.
