September is National Preparedness Month

Residents should plan for emergencies at home, work, in the community

Sept. 1, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) Since emergencies can happen at any time, the 2017 National Preparedness Month focuses on planning with its theme “Disasters don’t plan ahead. You can.” Weekly themes highlight some of the actions people can take to prepare all year round for weather emergencies and other disasters at home and work and in their communities.

The City of Minneapolis partnered with ECHO Minnesota to produce a series of multi-language videos about how to use NOAA weather radios and other precautions to take during tornados, thunderstorms, flash floods and snowstorms.


Take individual steps to prepare for a disaster today like downloading the FEMA app.
