City Council votes on nomination of Medaria Arradondo for police chief
What: The City Council votes on whether to confirm the nomination of Medaria “Rondo” Arradondo to be the City’s next police chief..
When: 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18
Where: City Council Chamber, Room 317, City Hall, 350 S. Fifth St.
MORE: Assistant Chief Arradondo assumed command of the Minneapolis Police Department on July 21 and is currently serving as acting police chief. He joined MPD in 1989 as a patrol officer in the 3rd Precinct and has served as a school resource officer and a northside beat officer. His prior experience includes internal affairs and property-crime investigation. Arradondo has served as inspector for the First Precinct, a deputy chief and chief of staff.
Mayor Betsy Hodges nominated Arradondo to become the next chief of the Minneapolis Police Department. Since then, the nomination was approved by the City Council’s Executive Committee and Public Safety, Civil Rights and Emergency Management Committee voted unanimously approved.
