City leaders mark 10th anniversary of I-35W Bridge collapse
What: A dedication event marking the 10th anniversary of the I-35W Bridge collapse. Current and former City leaders will pay tribute to the victims, survivors, first responders and others impacted by the collapse.
When: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1
Where: Outside the Minneapolis Emergency Operations Training Facility, 25 37th Ave. NE
MORE: Minneapolis firefighters requested a piece of the I-35W Bridge wreckage as a reminder of their dedication and service that day, and every day. The bridge piece will be installed outside the Emergency Operations Training Facility, near the front entrance.
Current and former City leaders are scheduled to speak at the event, including Mayor Betsy Hodges, Fire Chief John Fruetel, former Mayor R.T. Rybak and Anne Burke and Jessica Engebretsen, daughters of Sherry Engebretsen – one of 13 people who died in the bridge collapse.
The colors of the new I-35W Bridge will also go dark the evening of Aug. 1 to mark the anniversary.
