Urban Scholars feel the heat during Minneapolis firefighter training
WHAT: Seventeen Urban Scholars will suit up with the Minneapolis Fire Department and take part in training exercises with Minneapolis firefighters to learn about firefighting operations as part of their summer-long internship experience.
Visuals include: 100-foot ladder from an aerial truck will extend up six floors on the training tower, propane tank fire, and tour of the Emergency Operations and Training Facility training grounds

MORE: Minneapolis’ second group of Urban Scholars began work in May in 14 different City departments to develop leadership skills and learn about careers in government. The program, which is now in its second year, provides students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds with a distinctive professional experience focused on gaining essential leadership skills and creating career pathways to positions of influence. The program runs through Aug. 9.
