Gas leak in southwest leads to evacuation of several blocks

March 13, 2013 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis fire crews and CenterPoint Energy are on the scene of a reported gas leak in southwest Minneapolis, and are going door-to-door evacuating people as a precaution. Currently, the area impacted extends from 39th Street West to 42nd Street West, from Upton Avenue to Zenith Avenue. People are asked to avoid this area while this work is being done. At this point, no fires or injures have been reported related to this gas leak.

If people detect a natural gas odor, they can call CenterPoint Energy at 372-5050 to report it.

MEDIA NOTE: The Fire Department has a staging area for media interviews at 42nd Street and Xerxes Avenue.
