Gas leak in southwest shut off—folks allowed to return to the area

March 13, 2013 (MINNEAPOLIS) People are now able to return to their homes, following a gas leak in southwest Minneapolis. Fire crews have been monitoring gas levels, and CenterPoint Energy crews were able to safely shut off the gas leak. Gas level monitors show in the area show that gas levels are back to zero, so folks are now allowed back into the affected area.


Minneapolis fire crews and CenterPoint Energy responded this afternoon to the scene of a gas leak in southwest, and went door-to-door evacuating people as a precaution. The area impacted extended from 39th Street West to 42nd Street West, from Upton Avenue to Zenith Avenue. No fires or injuries were reported as a result of the gas leak.
