6:45 p.m. gas leak update—All residents can now return to the area
March 13, 2013 (MINNEAPOLIS) The Minneapolis Fire Department is now allowing all residents to return to their homes in the area affected by a gas leak this afternoon in southwest Minneapolis. CenterPoint Energy crews were able to safely shut off the gas leak, and fire crews monitored gas levels until they dropped to zero in the affected area.
Minneapolis fire crews and CenterPoint Energy responded this afternoon to the scene of a gas leak in southwest, and went door-to-door evacuating people as a precaution. The area impacted extended from 39th Street West to 42nd Street West, from Upton Avenue to Zenith Avenue. No fires or injuries were reported as a result of the gas leak.
