City begins construction season:
70 miles of streets to be paved or seal coated

WHAT:             Mayor Rybak, Public Works Director Steve Kotke, and City Council members announce the City’s investment in streets this construction season at the site of one of the biggest street projects of the year.

WHEN:             2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012     

WHERE:           Nicollet Avenue South, in the shopping center parking lot between Lake Street and 31st Street

MORE:             This year, the City is making sizeable investments in the public infrastructure. It’s the fourth year of the Infrastructure Acceleration Program (IAP), which supplements the City’s existing infrastructure construction and maintenance with an additional $27.5 million over five years. By the end of this construction season, more than 130 miles of streets will have been improved through the IAP.  

                        The news conference will take place along Nicollet Avenue South. Over the next two construction seasons, this busy city street will be completely reconstructed from Lake Street south to 40th Street.
