 Minneapolis Fire Department and partner agencies train on water search and rescues

WHAT:         The Minneapolis Fire Department and local partner agencies will train on boat operations during search and rescues on area lakes and rivers. The training will focus on boat piloting and navigation, as well as search and rescue techniques on both swift- and static-water.  Local agencies that are sending representatives include: St. Paul, Eagan and South Metro Fire Departments; Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota County Water Patrols, and members of Minneapolis SWAT.                 

Media will be able to shoot video from a boat during this training exercise and will also be able to place microphones on the instructors.  

WHEN:       1 p.m., Thursday, June 14

WHERE:       Lake Calhoun boat landing

                   (Northeast side of the lake near the pavilion)
