Several North Minneapolis schools closed—help available for families

Six schools in north Minneapolis will be closed Monday, May 23, due to the recent tornado. The schools include Lucy Laney, Cityview Community, Nellie Stone Johnson, Hmong International Academy, Northstar and Plymouth Youth Center. 

Families of children who attend north Minneapolis schools other than those that will be closed should exercise caution and make sure that conditions are safe for their children to leave home to attend school. Students who are unable to attend school because of the conditions will have absences that are excused.

Families can receive shelter assistance, food and water at the following Minneapolis Public Schools locations:

North High School

Minneapolis, MN 55411

Folwell Middle School (MPS closed building)
3611 20th Ave. S.
Minneapolis, MN 55407
