Minneapolis City Council begins 2010 budget process
Following the delivery of Mayor R.T. Rybak’s proposed 2010 budget on Thursday, Aug. 13, the Minneapolis City Council will begin its annual budget process on Monday, Aug. 17, with a Ways & Means committee meeting at 9:30 a.m. in City Council Chambers. At this meeting, City Council Members will hear more details about the proposed budget during an overview presentation by City Finance staff.
The City of Minneapolis’ annual budget process will take place over the next several months. Important dates include:
- Sept. 16 – Nov. 16 – The City Council Ways & Means Committee will hold budget hearings for City departments and agencies
- Nov. 19 – the City Council will hold a public meeting to take comment on the tax levy and 2010 budget
- Dec. 2 – The Ways & Means Committee will do budget mark-up
- Dec. 7 – The City Council is expected to adopt the final 2010 budget. This will also be an opportunity for public comment
