Free acts perform at Minneapolis MOSAIC’s grand gala opening June 6
Minneapolis MOSAIC, the City's seventh annual celebration of its rich heritage of diversity and the arts, kicks off on Saturday, June 6 with a free opening-night gala "Many Worlds. One Night." The event will include forty free acts and events in downtown Minneapolis. The event is the start of a summer-long program of more than 100 art, music, dance, spoken word and theater events throughout Minneapolis.

Among the many music, theater, dance acts and exhibitions will be a performance by
Ballet de Camara del Estado de Morelos, a professional dance company from Minneapolis Sister State Morelos, Mexico at The Pantages Theater stage at 6:30 p.m.
Other acts include the invigorating beats of Batucada Do Norte Drum Group, the uplifting voices of the Revelation Chorale and Greg Herriges’s own eclectic Indie "whirled music". A variety of acts are also scheduled at First Avenue, the Seven rooftop patio and Mosaic’s Folk Circle. Vendors from Midtown Global Market and Mill City Farmers Market will also be selling food and other items at the inaugural festival.
The 2009 Minneapolis MOSAIC is made possible with partnership of Best Buy, Xcel Energy, General Mills, Piper Jaffray, Mexico Tourism Board, RBC Wealth Management, M&I Bank, Minneapolis Foundation, Cities 97, Comcast, Minnesota Lynx and the downtown Minneapolis YMCA.
