Minneapolis celebrates National Police Week with precinct open houses

National Police Week is May 11 – 15. To help celebrate police week, each police precinct and the Special Operations Center will hold open houses and tours featuring demonstrations from the Bomb Squad, SWAT, Fire Department, Mounted Horse Patrol, and K-9 Units.

During this week, Minneapolis will join with cities and counties across the nation to celebrate the dedication and commitment of its law enforcement officers and remember those officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The public will have an opportunity to meet with police officers, firefighters, community service officers and crime prevention specialists and to learn first-hand what goes on in the day-to-day operations of MPD at each of these events. Information will be available on how residents can get involved with crime prevention and promote safety in their neighborhood. There will be refreshments for all and fun activities for children.
