Candidate filing for 2009 local elections begins July 7
Candidate filing for the 2009 Minneapolis municipal election begins Tuesday, July 7 and runs through Tuesday, July 21. Individuals running for Mayor, City Council, Board of Estimate and Taxation, and Park and Recreation Board can file for candidacy Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Minneapolis Office of Elections, 350 South 5th St., Room 1B on the ground floor. The deadline for withdrawal is 5 p.m. Thursday, July 23. Candidate filings will be posted daily on the City of Minneapolis Elections website.
Elections for all Minneapolis City Offices are non-partisan. The General Election is Nov. 3, 2009.
City of Minneapolis seeks bilingual election judges
The City of Minneapolis is seeking bilingual election judges. Minneapolis needs language support specifically in American Sign Language, Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Vietnamese, Oromo and Russian languages. If you are eligible to vote and are fluent in English and a second language, please contact the Minneapolis Office of Elections at (612)673-3870 or apply online to be an election judge.
