In honor of Public Service Recognition Week next week, the Human Resources Department is announcing a new City-wide employee recognition program developed in response to feedback from previous employee engagement surveys and an employee recognition survey. The employee recognition survey found that more than 90 percent of City employees wanted their work to be valued and recognized, yet less than half felt their contributions were being recognized in a meaningful way. That’s about to change.
The new STAR (Special Thanks And Recognition) awards will recognize City employees for their positive influence, significant impact to the City, leadership and years of service. This supports the City's new value around showing employees they are valued and supported.
The STAR program begins on a pilot basis July 1. Look for more information on the program in Minneapolis Matters and on CityTalk in June.
