Many resources available to help you understand your open enrollment options

Open enrollment — the time of year when you can make changes to your benefit elections — begins Nov. 1 and runs through Nov. 22. As you begin thinking about which of the three networks to enroll in and whether you wish to create pre-tax spending accounts for health care or dependent care, don’t forget that many resources are available to answer your questions about health plan changes and guide you through the enrollment process.

Guidebooks mailed to your home

Watch your mail at home during the week of Oct. 28 for a packet of information detailing your benefit choices, premium costs, etc. The open enrollment guide provides:

Workplace meetings

If you have questions about your open enrollment options, be sure to attend one of the upcoming open enrollment information sessions. Benefits staff will discuss the City’s health care plan, dental insurance, life insurance benefits and pre-tax spending accounts for health and/or dependent care.

Online presentation

If you can’t attend one of these meetings, you can watch a videotaped presentation about open enrollment. The presentation will be available beginning October 28th at http://www.minneapolismn.gov/hr/benefits/.

Hotline

If you have any questions during open enrollment, call the Human Resources open enrollment hotline at 612-673-3333.

The phone line will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Calls will be answered by a member of the Benefits staff. There may be a short wait if staff is assisting other callers, but your call will be answered as soon as possible. If you call after hours, please leave a detailed message and a staff member will return your call.
