Summer means busy performance schedule for Minneapolis Police Band  

Spring and summer mark the busiest season for the Minneapolis Police Band. If you’d like to catch one of their concerts, here is their summer schedule.

Formed in 1917, the band was initially composed of police officers only. In 1919, civilian members were allowed to join the ranks, and in 1969 the first women were admitted. The band's first parade was in the Armistice Day Parade November, 1918.  In 2007 the Minneapolis Police Band was inducted into the Minnesota State Music Hall of Fame. The marching band has been the official escort band for the Minneapolis Aquatennial Parade since the parade began in 1940.

If you think you might be interested in joining, call (612) 673-5717 or come sit in on a rehearsal. The Police Band rehearses most Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the 5th Precinct, 3101 Nicollet Ave. S. Band members promise you’ll find a casual and friendly group.
