City of Lakes Loppet registration is under way
Although our snow drought may not have you thinking of cross-country skiing, registration for the annual City of Lakes Loppet is under way. If you’re thinking of taking part in this annual cross-country ski festival, be sure to take advantage of the registration price break deadline set for Jan. 31.
The City of Lakes Loppet features a snow sculpture contest, bike racing on ice, cross country ski races, a night-time ski event lit by thousands of ice luminaries, a post-luminary party featuring live music, a beer and barbeque tent, and more
This year, the City of Lakes Loppet is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a move to Hennepin Avenue in Uptown. Participants will ski from Lake Calhoun and up Lake Street before turning down Hennepin Avenue. The Feb. 4 and 5 weekend events will radiate from the lagoon on Lake of the Isles and Theodore Wirth Park, with all courses finishing in Uptown. Event headquarters will be based in Calhoun Square.
