Viewers can now watch Minneapolis government meeting broadcasts
in high definition

Government meetings and other City programming
also move to new channels

Viewers in Minneapolis now have a new option for watching government in action. The City has added a high definition channel to its lineup. This means viewers can find government meeting broadcasts on two channels: one in high definition, the other in standard definition. As part of the change, City programming, including government meetings, will move to new channels. Channel 79 will no longer carry government access programming.

Comcast

·         Channel 14: government meeting broadcasts (standard definition)

·         Channel 799: government meeting broadcasts (high definition)

·         Channel 859: multi-language City programming (high definition)

CenturyLink

Channel 14*:

·         8001 government meeting broadcasts (standard definition)

·         8501 government meeting broadcasts (high definition)

·         8002 multi-language City programming (standard definition)

·         8502 multi-language City programming (high definition)

The City of Minneapolis Communications Department cablecasts and webstreams approximately 300 government meetings every year. Those live and prerecorded broadcasts include City Council meetings, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board meetings, Neighborhood and Community Engagement Commission meetings, Board of Estimate meetings, and Planning Commission meetings. Other programming in multiple languages includes City-produced videos about 311 and 911, fire safety, recycling, preventing burglaries, Snow Emergency parking rules and more. All productions are also available on demand on the City website and the City YouTube channel.

*CenturyLink channel 14 takes viewers to a menu of all City access channels through CenturyLink Prism TV. High definition is expected to be activated in November.
