Minneapolis 311 concludes expanded contact center hours pilot program
Beginning Monday, Sept. 30, the Minneapolis 311 contact center will be returning to its previous hours of operation, open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The contact center had remained open an extra hour - until 8 p.m. – since April 15 as part of a pilot project that will conclude at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
Now the pilot project is complete, the City will evaluate the project to determine whether it’s feasible to make the expanded 311 call center hours permanent. Minneapolis 311’s contact center has answered calls from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday since April 2010. Those who call 311 after hours can leave a message, and a contact center agent is able to help them the following business day.
Minneapolis 311 also vastly improved its online service in recent years and developed a mobile application in 2012. These self-service options make it possible for more people to request service and access information without speaking to a 311 agent. Through the mobile app, folks are able to report a number of issues to Minneapolis 311, including:
- Abandoned vehicle
- Parking meters
- Parking violations
- Traffic signal timing
- Broken street light
- Traffic sign repair
- Traffic signal trouble
