Street closures, lane restrictions to affect Downtown traffic next week
Utility construction along 4th Street South will affect traffic in downtown Minneapolis all next week. CenterPoint Energy crews are replacing a natural gas line under the street. Drivers should follow all construction advisories and detour routes.
The construction has two phases:
June 10 to 14
The corner of 4th Street South and 5th Avenue South
Northbound 5th Avenue (a one-way street) will be reduced to two lanes of traffic.
Eastbound 4th Street will be reduced to two eastbound lanes of traffic.
Westbound buses on 4th Street will be detoured.
The corner of 4th Street South and Park Avenue South
Park Avenue will be reduced to two lanes of traffic at the intersection.
June 14 to 16
The corner of 4th Street South and 3rd Avenue South
Northbound and southbound 3rd Avenue will be closed to traffic. Drivers should follow posted detours.
Eastbound 4th Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic.
Westbound buses will resume service on 4th Street. for Metro transit.
Streets and lanes will reopen the evening of Sunday, June 16.
By Monday morning, Park Avenue South will continue to be reduced to two lanes of traffic. Otherwise, all closures and lane restrictions will be over.
