Light Rail construction closes
Washington Avenue Bridge this weekend

The Washington Avenue Bridge over the Mississippi River will close at 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 because of Light Rail construction and will be closed to vehicle traffic through the weekend. The bridge is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21. During the closure, a signed detour will be in place. Pedestrians and bicycles will still be able to access the upper deck of the bridge through the weekend.

The closure is needed to continue work on the Central Corridor Light Rail project. In recent months, all traffic has been using the north side lanes of the bridge while crews worked on the south side lanes. This weekend, construction crews will move to the north side of the bridge and switch traffic to the south side.
