Poverty

Wenonah had a lower percentage of people living below the poverty level than Minneapolis had between 1979 and 1999. The neighborhood and the city reached their highest levels in 1989, 11 percent and 19 percent respectively. Wenonah also had a lower percentage of people 65 years and over below the poverty level than Minneapolis, but Wenonah's percentage more than doubled between 1989 and 1999.

Wenonah had a lower percentage of families under the poverty level than Minneapolis had between 1979 and 1999. The trend lines for the neighborhood and the city mirrored each other during this period, each peaking in 1989. Wenonah's percentage of families with children under 18 below the poverty level was also well below the Minneapolis level.
