Labor force

In 2000, labor force participation (the number of people employed, looking for a job or in the armed forces over the total working-age population) was very high in the neighborhood compared to the city, having steadily increased since 1980, when it was lower in the neighborhood than citywide.

Stevens Square went from having a comparatively low unemployment rate in 1980 to one in 1990 that nearly doubled the city's rate. In 2000, the neighborhood's rate decreased to a level that was just above the city's rate.
