St. Anthony West increased in population by 22.9 percent between 1980 and 2000, far outpacing the citywide increase of 3.1 percent.

Between 1980 and 2000, the population of most age groups in St. Anthony West increased. Children and adolescent populations increased by 15 percent. The adult population added 352 residents at the same time – an increase of 22 percent, driven mainly by the 25- to 44-year-old age group. Senior residents increased by 32 percent because of an increase in people 85 years old and over.

St. Anthony West changed significantly in its ethnic makeup between 1980 and 2000. Whites made up 94 percent of the population in 1980, 91 percent in 1990 and 80 percent in 2000. All ethnic groups during this period grew, with Hispanic and black populations increasing the most.
