The proportion of people who work or are looking for a job (those in the labor force) was higher in the city than it was in Northeast Park in 1980. In 1990 and 2000, however, labor force participation was higher in the neighborhood.
In 1980, the neighborhood and the city had the same unemployment rate of 4.8 percent. The unemployment rate increased in Northeast Park to 7.3 percent in 2000, while the city's rate peaked in 1990 and then declined in 2000 to 5.8 percent.
