Morris Park's population decreased 15.2 percent between 1980 and 2000. During this same period Minneapolis' population increased 3.1 percent.

As a result of population decline, there were fewer children, adults and senior residents in Morris Park in 2000 than in 1980. The numbers of children and adolescents decreased the most of any age group, by 28 percent. The number of adults shrank by 11 percent, and the group of people 65 and older declined by 9 percent.

Like the City of Minneapolis, the Morris Park neighborhood was more racially diverse in 2000 than it was in 1980. The white population was 98 percent of the population in 1980 and 81 percent in 2000. All ethnic groups increased in number and percentage during this time. The black population amounted to less than 1 percent of the population in 1980 but climbed to 6 percent in 2000.
