Kenwood had a substantially higher median household income than Minneapolis in 1979, 1989 and 1999. The neighborhood median rose by $24,896 between 1979 and 1999. In 1989 the income rose sharply in Kenwood, but it fell slightly in 1999. The citywide income rose steadily during this period, but in 2000 the neighborhood's income was more than $65,000 higher than the city's.
