The population in Keewaydin decreased steadily from 1980 to 2000. In 2000 the neighborhood had 3,178 people, an 11-percent decrease from 1980 and a 5.7 percent decrease from 1990. In comparison, the city's population increased by 3 percent from 1980 to 2000.

Between 1980 and 2000, the neighborhood lost 17 percent of its child and adolescent population, about 3 percent of its adult population and about 35 percent of its senior population.

The 25 to 44-year-old age group gained more than 120 residents, but it was counterbalanced by a loss of almost 180 residents ages 18 to 24. Senior residents slightly increased their numbers in the 85 and older group but lost more than 200 residents between 65 and 84.
