Between 1980 and 1990, Bryn Mawr's population grew 2.4 percent while Minneapolis' lost almost 1 percent. However, between 1990 and 2000, Bryn Mawr decreased 6 percent whereas Minneapolis increased 4 percent. Between 1980 and 2000, the neighborhood population shrank by 114 residents.

In 2000, Bryn Mawr's ethnic distribution was 92 percent white. While this percentage is high, it's down 8 percent from 1980. Although much lower in number than whites, Asians experienced significant growth of more than four times their 1980 population, and blacks increased by one-half of their 1980 population. American Indians, already very low in number, saw a decrease of one-half of their 1980 population. The Hispanic population size remained relatively unchanged.
